“Heritage tour swept us of our feet!!

We travelled 2 days with Balazs in Hungary and to Vienna, booking these two days took our trip over the top and made it more than we ever expected!
The first day we did the Heritage tour to the village where my Husband’s Grandfather was born before coming to Canada in 1928. I really had no idea what to expect, other than seeing the village, but as soon as Balazs picked us up, it was clear that we were in for the day of our lives! The research they did ahead of the tour was amazing, right away he told us we could find the exact house he was born in, church he was baptized in and the family cemetery as well. We were so excited but had no idea that when we arrived, we would be in a local bar, meeting family that we did not even know existed! Over the day, we pieced together a family tree and that evening we were sitting in his Second Cousin’s home, enjoying Palinka and sharing stories! Having Balazs with us was such an asset, not just for the research, but the language barrier too, and he has a great way of interacting with the locals too getting lots of info and building relationships with the super-friendly Hungarian people.
The second day, we did a transfer to Vienna with Balazs, but first did a tour of the Terror museum in Budapest. It was amazing to have him guide us through the museum, sharing his knowledge of the local history and also giving us a personal view of how this history impacts the local Hungarian people. We learned so much in a short time, then drove to Vienna for a city highlight tour before dropping us off at our hotel.
I really cannot express the full pleasure of our visit in words, I can only say that we were left stunned after the Heritage tour, it was the most amazing day of any travels we have made.
We highly recommend this tour company, they just go above and beyond to give a personalized service unlike I have ever seen.”

The Best Travel Experience Ever

“I had a trip planned to Hungary, and since my father’s family was originally from there I wanted to have a “roots” trip to the villages in northeastern Hungary where my grandparents were born. It’s a little off the usual tourist track, and I don’t speak Hungarian. I noted on Trip Advisor that Sweet Travel offered to set up a specialized tour for exactly this situation. Veronika was my email contact, and she was always most helpful when booking the tour. Our guide/driver/interpreter Balazs was amazing. He was well-informed, a good driver, well-spoken in English, and as enthusiastic about finding my relatives as I was. He had researched the trip ahead of time, meeting with village registry officials and local church clergy, and setting up appointments for when I would be in the villages. In the villages we visited addresses where relatives had lived, or where folks with the same family name resided now. He was careful about how he approached people, but was always very charming and elicited great information. Even when they were not related to me, they were fun encounters. We found cousins and had great visits with them! Turns out he is a skilled detective too! This was the best value for my vacation dollar I have ever spent! I’ve been home for ten days and am still excited about my days in the villages. All thanks to Balazs (and Veronika). I could have rented a car and driven to the villages-I would have arrived there and looked around without knowing what I was looking at and without being able to talk with anyone (few folks spoke any English). But thanks to Sweet Travel I have a fantastic memory of my time in Hungary, new family contacts, and a better understanding of the life my grandparents led. I cannot recommend them highly enough.”

Toth Balazs:

We want to thank you so much for our day tour form Budapest to Kisdobrony & Zapszony Ukraine and for all the work that you did to find relatives in both towns.  It was a great experience – above and beyond all expectations.  We have been in contact with our relatives in both towns.  Please feel free to use us as references with other people in search of relatives.

“Terrific Custom Tours

We took 3 tours with Sweet Travel during our time in Hungary. Two were some of their standard itineraries – Danube Bend and Lake Balaton. Both of these were very fun and informative. Our guides were so easy to get along with and answered everything we threw at them. We were able to learn so much more about the country’s culture and history than touring on our own or in a large group. Private tours are defintely worth the extra investment.

The third tour was to the eastern region of Hungary to look for my family’s hungarian heritage. This tour was just amazing. I had done lots of work beforehand on my family tree and had contacted some local mayors for help. Veronika contacted them as well on my behalf and they met us for our visit. They were able to uncover many of the missing pieces and show us places where my grandparents were born and married. We were even able to connect with a cousin of my father’s. Our guide, Gyorgy, was key to the success of the trip. He was our translator so we could openly communicate with everyone. It was defintely a cherished memory!”

“The research that was done for us about the village my Dad was born in was great. The mayor was expecting us and inquired about our family. He showed us the church where my Dad was baptized, took us to his own home, and introduced us to a man whose grandfather was my grandfather’s brother! The hospitality was overwhelming! PEG SIMON”

“Balazs

Thank you again for the excellent tours. We learned a great deal about Budapest and life in Hungary. Thank you for helping out Getting information in Egyek about my great Grandparents. I had the headstone translated and it turns out  that it was the stone of the wife of Morris Neumann, my great Grandmother.
Enclosed it a gift from the Rock+Roll Hall of fame from my Hometown. Sorry we forgot to give it to you on Wednesday. One for your colleague also.
Thanks again. If you come to the USA please look us up!
